AMBASSADOR RESTAURANT IS A MEMBER OF THE RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND. Below is an extract of a letter from the RAI CE to all members.
We are more than delighted to pass on the VAT reduction to our customers ( Note: The reduction is reflected on the restaurant menu & billl )
Re: VAT Reduction from 13.5% to 9%
"Dear Member,
The reduction in the VAT rate from 13.5% to 9% is a major boost to the ailing tourism industry. The new VAT rate will begin July 1st, 2011 and remain in effect until December 2013. However, the VAT rate will be reviewed at the end of 2012.
We want to ensure that this new VAT rate will not be just a ‘one-off’ and that it will remain in force after 2013.
This is a key development in the recovery of the restaurant industry in Ireland which has suffered at the hands of the recession. It shows the Government’s commitment to help the industry recover from the downturn it has suffered in recent years. The Restaurant Sector is one of Ireland’s most important sectors and the new VAT rate offers a more competitive market.
This new competitiveness within the market will support employment growth within the sector. We hope that member restaurants will live up to this good gesture and pass the reduction on to consumers in the form of lower prices.
I’m aware of the difficult environment restaurants have been working under in the past few years and I urge all members to pass this saving on in full to the customers. This is the best way to ensure that the new VAT rate will be made permanent.
This is an opportunity to show that dining out in Ireland is great value for money.
I look forward to rebuilding our restaurants industry and showing our customers the great value on offer in Ireland."
